I have these vivid dreams almost every night, and up until recently they were the most default ones you can imagine. The ones where I am late and, no matter what I try I can't make it in time, or the dreams that tomorrow is an exam, although I haven't been a student for decades now, or the ones where I need to plan for something but am not sure what.
This all changed last year, when I started having dreams where I am not the actor, and the topics are not connected to my life at all. Sometimes I would dream almost the whole movie of characters with a plot, and sometimes it would be like someone's memory snippet.
My psychologist friend told me that this is because I don't have control of my life and I've lost parts of myself, and this can be seen in dreams now. My other friend added that if I were invited to an orgy, I would be the guy in the corner observing others. I don't think I lost control - I’m more than satisfied with how this chapter of life turned out. And my orgy days were never in the cards. I have a suburban husband aura ever since I was sixteen.
After I bored my wife over breakfast for the nth time with some wild dream, she told me, "Why don't you write them all down?"
I know for a fact that people don't want to listen to other people's dreams, but then this is a thing - I don't think they are mine either. So I am collecting all of them and publishing them here as vignettes under the subtitle: dreams and fears. Hope you enjoy them.
